WHITINGHAM, Vt. -- Carline E. (Tobey) Phelps of Whitingham died Aug. 14, 2007 at the age of 51 of breast cancer. She was born Aug. 18, 1955 in Townshend at Grace Cottage Hospital to Sylvia M. (Helstowski) Tobey and the late Gordon E. ''Skee'' Tobey. Carline was educated in East Dover and Brattleboro schools graduating in 1972 at BUHS. Carline settled in Whitingham and raised her family. She enjoyed showing horses, driving her team at horse pulls, logging, sewing, painting, building dry stone walls, bird watching, gardening, and most recently gold panning. Carline also spent a lot of time on Lake Whitingham boating and water skiing. Carline leaves the ''love of her life,'' Bill Lemieux of Whitingham. She is also survived by her mother, Sylvia M Tobey of Vernon; her son, Joel A. Phelps and wife Praisia; daughters, Danette T. Littleton and her spouse Charles, Muriel R. Phelps and her fiancé' Marciano Roldan, all of Whitingham; grandchildren, Christopher, Kayla, Keagan and Karissaa Littleton; expected granddaughter, Azalia Carline Roldan; two stepchildren, Jenny of San Diego, CA, and Daniel Lemieux of Clarksburg, MA; brothers, Colin Tobey of Wardsboro, Sheldon Tobey and his spouse Jeanna Johnson of Whitingham; sisters, Lynn Tobey and spouse Charlie Banis of Guilford and Sharon Tobey and spouse John Lyddy of Whitingham; aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Carline was predeceased by her father, Skee Tobey, and a brother, Loren E. Tobey. Carline was a woman admired for her amazing strengths and convictions in life. Carline was a ''jack of all trades'' consisting of various jobs through her life which include: Doc Grass Vet Clinic, seamstress for military supplies, her own catering business, trail groomer at Stratton Mountain, and most recently logging with her horses, a paving operating engineer with Lane Construction and Warner Bros. LLC, respectively. Most of all Carline enjoyed time spent with her family, grandchildren, and her love, Bill. Carline lived life to its fullest. The family is in the process of setting up a memorial fund in her name to honor the teamster most reflecting her beliefs in sportsmanship. Carline E. (Tobey) Phelps WHITINGHAM -- Covey & Allen Funeral Home was filled to overflowing Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 for the celebration of the life of Carline E. (Tobey) Phelps. Pastor Steve McClelland of the West Brattleboro Baptist Church conducted the service. Pastor McClelland offered prayers and words from scripture. Many of Mrs. Phelps' family members and friends offered personal eulogies and words of remembrance. Interment followed in Sadawga Cemetery in Whitingham where Pastor McClelland offered burial rites and committal prayers. Serving as pallbearers were Chu Littleton, Chris Littleton, Troy Hanson, Dan Lemieux, Marciano Roldan, Joel A. Phelps and Bill Lemieux. Following committal services a time of fellowship and refreshments was held at the home of her sister Sharon.
